Man cleared of murder by DNA evidence sues police

A Long Island man who spent nearly 18 years in prison before his conviction for killing his wife in 1994 was overturned by new DNA evidence is suing the Vermont police and prosecutors who built the case against him.

In a federal court lawsuit filed last month in U.S. District Court in Brattleboro, John Grega claims his 1995 conviction was based on unconstitutional actions by investigators.

Grega's wife, Christine, was found dead in a Dover condominium where they were vacationing in 1994.
