Motor Vehicle Crash

Vt. State Police - 8:55 pm Wed Jul 23rd, 2014

On the above date and time Vermont State Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash involving several vehicles on I-89 at Exit 16 northbound.

Investigation revealed traffic had been congested north of Exit 16 from a crash earlier in the evening. The six vehicles involved, traveling at highway speed, drove upon the congested traffic. A series of rear end collision occurred between the vehicles; who were all traveling in the passing lane.
No one was injured in the crash. The passing lane of the Interstate was shut down while the scene was investigated and vehicles were removed. The northbound lane of the Interstate was backed up from Exit 16 to Exit 14 as a result of the crash.
The operators involved were Mary Mulhern (70) of Milton, VT, Andrew Arel (27) of St. Albans, VT, Deborah Girovard (45) of St. Albans, VT, Andrew Lothrop (52) of Milton, VT, Dabra Scarpinato (32) of Milton, VT, and Cassie Breeden (35) of Portland, OR. Five of the six vehicles were towed from the scene for disabling damage.
The Vermont State Police were assisted by Colchester and St. Michael's Fire & Rescue.
