Delvina D. Peake, 95, of River Road in Moretown, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Woodridge Nursing Home while undergoing rehabilitation for a recent leg injury.

She was born on November 10, 1918, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Baker) Santor. She attended the old Jones Brook School of Moretown and later graduated from Montpelier High School.

On June 14, 1941, she married Adrian Peake at St. Augustine's Church in Montpelier, Vermont. They made their home in Moretown until Mr. Peake was called to serve in World War II and subsequently killed in action on February 8, 1945.

Mrs. Peake was employed in Montpelier at several chains stores for many years but mainly worked at the family homestead. When her parents passed on she built a new home on the property where she devoted most of her life caring for either family members who needed a temporary home or for numerous children that she provided daycare for working parents. This became her greatest joy and a great joy to the children as well.

Although she had no children of her own she took in two very young boys and raised them as her own, both of whom proudly call her mom.

She was a devoted member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church for over seventy years rarely missing a Sunday service until transportation became an issue in later years.

Survivors include her "sons", Lawrence (Larry) Dodge and his wife Bonnie (Pollander) of East Montpelier, Vermont; Richard Dodge and his wife Margaret (Sanders) of Northfield, Vermont; and a sister, Anna Bell Dodge of Webster, NH; a brother-in-law, Ervin A. Dodge of Moretown, Vermont; Grand Children, Christopher E. Dodge and his wife Kristin (Fontain) of Barre Town, Vermont; Larissa (Dodge) Bailey and her husband Glenn of Starksboro, Vermont; Terri Dodge and partner Susan DeLong of East Burke, Vermont; Great Granddaughter Alexis Dodge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Delvina was predeceased by her siblings, Adeline, Eva, Dorothy, Marshall, Everett, Fredrick, Chesney, Maybell, Virginia, Harland, Eleanor and Genevieve.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Guare and Sons/Barber & Lanier Funeral Home in Montpelier, Vermont.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church located at 16 Barre Street in Montpelier.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Augustine's Catholic Church.
