N/A - Fire



Vt. State Police - 7:25 pm Sun Jun 8th, 2014

On 6/8/14 at approximately 1130 hours the Grand Isle Fire Department responded to a fire in the basement of the United Methodist Church in Grand Isle. Sunday services were in session and there were people in the church at the time of the fire.

Everyone was able to get out safely and the fire department was contacted. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire and the damage was contained to the basement. There were no injuries and damages are estimated to be in excess of $15,000.
The Grand Isle Fire Department contacted the Vermont State Police and requested an origin and cause fire investigation be conducted. A detective from the State Police Fire Investigation Unit responded to the scene on 6/8/14.
It was determined the fire was the result of a deep fryer that was accidentally left unattended. The fire is not considered "suspicious".
