June 17 - Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), chairman of the subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging, will hold a hearing on Wednesday to discuss the role of the Older Americans Act in addressing poverty and hunger among seniors.

Sanders will be joined by Nancy Altman, co-director of Social Security Works; Ellie Hollander, president and CEO of the Meals on Wheels Association of America; Howard Bedlin, vice president of Public Policy and Advocacy at the National Council on Aging; and Paul Downey, president and CEO of Senior Community Centers and President of the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs.

Last month Sen. Sanders introduced legislation to reauthorize and strengthen the Older Americans Act which supports Meals on Wheels and other critical programs for seniors.
