Doyon Enterprises, LLC Settles Environmental Violations with Vermont Dept. of Environmental Conservation

posted at 1:08 pm Thu Jun 6th, 2013 by (WherezIt_Staff)

The Department of Environmental Conservation's Compliance and Enforcement Division today announced that it has formally settled environmental violations involving Doyon Enterprises, LLC. The settlement includes a $14,350.00 penalty.

Through the Agency's investigation it was determined that the company heavy cut 177 acres of its property in Craftsbury, Vermont without obtaining authorization. Vermont law requires landowners to file a notice of intent to cut with the Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation, and receive authorization to proceed, prior to conducting a heavy cut of 40 acres or more.

The matter came to light as a result of an Agency investigation conducted in response to a heavy cut complaint. After the investigation was completed, the company was notified of the violation and agreed to settle the matter. The settlement was reduced to an Assurance of Discontinuance, and adopted as an order by the Environmental Court. In it, Doyon Enterprises, LLC agreed to pay a $14,350.00 civil penalty.
