Vt. State Police - 4:10 pm Thu May 9th, 2013
The State Police responded to the report of a theft of a safe from the Crawford residence in Canaan. Investigation determined that the residence was burglarized and a small home safe containing medical marijuana and other items was taken.
With the assistance of Pittsburg Police Chief Richard Lapoint and Officer Cheney numerous interviews were conducted and two suspects were identified. The safe was eventually recovered from a pond on Old Country Lane in Pittsburg. Some of the items in the safe were recovered as well and were returned to the owner. Wheeler and Parsons were subsequently arrested and charged with burglary/possession of marijuana. Both subjects are to appear in the Essex Co. court in June to answer to the above charges. This incident took place in the early morning hours with the report coming in at 0450 hrs. With the cooperation of the Pittsburg Police Dept. specifically Chief Lapoint and Officer Cheney the case was quickly resolved.
