Sanders Sets News Conference on Social Security and Veterans Benefits

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will host a news conference on Thursday, Jan. 31 to announce a growing coalition of seniors, veterans and labor organizations against using a so-called chained Consumer Price Index to cut benefits for Social Security and disabled veterans.

Sanders will be joined by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and other opponents of lowering cost-of-living adjustments by adopting the stingier way to measure inflation called a "chained" C.P.I.
