Breakdancing & Hip Hop Workshops with Calvin Walker

Hip-Hop dance is a form of urban street dance that focuses on a freestyle feel with an intense structure. Tailored to hip-hop music and its nuances, hip-hop dance is inspired by a wide range of styles such as locking, popping, and breaking. Taught by Rhythm Riderz B-Boy, Calvin Walker

Learn technique, strengthening, and the finesse of breaking in a supportive class. Students will learn uprock, toprock, floorwork, freezes and beginning aerial moves. Taught by Rhythm Riderz B-Boy, Calvin Walker

*Wear clean, non-marking sneakers and loose fitting clothing or dance pants and tank top/leotard. Hair should be pulled back.
Instructor Bio: Calvin first became interested in dance at age 13, when a couple of friends invited him to perform as a breakdancer in a school talent show. He continued his dance education in high school, enrolling in classes taught by Cheri Skurdall. In 2005 Calvin and several other Vermont breakdancers based out of Newport and Lyndonville formally established the Rhythm Riderz Crew. In 2007, the Rhythm Riderz Crew became a sponsored street performing act on the Church Street Market Place. Calvin continues to pursue his dance education and teach classes at studios across Vermont.
