Waterbury Police Department - Hurricane Irene Relief

posted at 4:46 pm Wed Dec 5th, 2012 by (WherezIt_Staff)

In the wake of Hurricane Irene the Waterbury Police Department lost equipment and the use of our building. In recovering from the devastation it was quickly realized that the department was in need of computers and long and short term evidence storage to continue to perform our day to day duties.

Washington County Sheriff W. Samuel Hill contacted me on behalf of the Vermont Sheriff's Association. The association wanted to know if there was anything they could do to help the Waterbury Police Department get back on their feet and continue day to day operations.

The Vermont Sheriff's Association authorized $10,000 towards the purchase of computers, computer equipment, a short term evidence storage locker and a safe for the long term storage of evidence.

The Village of Waterbury and the Waterbury Police Department want to thank the Vermont Sheriff's Association for their generous donation. The donation came at a time of great need for the police department.

The Sheriff's Association authorized this assistance to one department in the northern half of the state (Waterbury PD) and one department in the southern half of the state (Wilmington PD)
