Village hearing Nov. 1 on police vote

Waterbury Record - 11:46 am Fri Oct 26th, 2012

Waterbury village residents will vote Nov. 6 on amending its charter so the village doesn't have to operate a police department.

The final public hearing to discuss and ask questions about the proposal will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Thatcher Brook Primary School cafeteria.

Vermont law now gives municipalities the authority to operate a police department; the power does not have to be explicitly stated in the town or village charter.
