Dogs, cats, horses, birds, lizards, turtles, fish, pigs, and other domestic animals and their people are invited to the annual Blessing of the Animals at Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society in West Windsor, VT, on Saturday, October 20th.
Join community clergy at the shelter at 1 PM for an interfaith blessing to recognize and honor the great bond and relationship between animals and their people.
During the event, Pastor Cheryl Heater of the Brownsville Community Church will welcome and introduce several denominational leaders from our region. Of the many invited and those able to attend, there will be representatives from St. James Episcopal Church in Woodstock (Rev. Norman McLeod), The Old South Congregational Church in Windsor (Rev. Amanda Lape-Freeberg), Congregation Shir Shalom in Woodstock (Leone Bushkin), Reading Community Church and Trinity Evangelical Free Church (Elder Michael Barr), Tyson Congregational Church (Pastor Margo Marrone) and Brownsville Community Church (Rev. Cheryl Heater).
Seniors, families, singles, and children of all ages are encouraged to bring their well-behaved animals. If this is not feasible, please bring a photo of your pet along.
Each clergy participant, in celebration of the animals, will share a part of the short service prior to blessing visitors, those animals photographed who could not attend, and the shelter residents. Also remembered will be those animal companions who are no longer with us, and those creatures who have, unfortunately, been subjected to inhumane, neglectful and/or unethical treatment.
This gathering will also be an opportunity for folks to contribute dog and cat food, kitty litter, food bowls, dog beds, leashes, and collars, hay and feed for the Animals-in-Need Food Shelf organized last year by Lucy Mac and Friends as a result of Hurricane Irene.
Please come and join us for this special day at Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society! For more information, please call 802-484-5829 or email email@example.com.
