Tpr. Nicholas Arlington, NA - Motor Vehicle Accident

Vt. State Police - 9:55 pm Tue Sep 18th, 2012

On today's date and time stated above, Tpr. Arlington was responding to the RT 35 area at Eastman Rd for a reported burglary that had just occurred. Subjects fled the scene with firearms a short time before.

Troopers with the assistance of Chester PD went to the area to attempt to locate these subjects. Tpr. Arlington was traveling south on VT RT 35 at approximately 50 mph. It should be noted that the weather at the time of the crash was heavy rain with wind gusts. As his cruiser began rounding a slight right corner in the roadway the vehicle hit a large area of standing and running water. Arlington's vehicle hydroplaned causing the vehicle to travel off the west shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle traveled up an embankment striking a tree, rotated several times while traveling along a culvert, and came to rest facing northwest in the southbound lane. This vehicle suffered extensive damage to its front end.
Tpr. Arlington was taken to Springfield Hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. The subjects involved in the burglary were not located at that time. That investigation is continuing as is further investigation into this crash.
Assisting agencies at the scene were Grafton Fire/Rescue, Golden Cross Ambulance, Chester Police, and VT Fish and Wildlife Officers.
