All eyes are on the Northeast Late Model teams as the biggest stock car race in Vermont's history approaches. With no championship points at stake, a record $120,000 purse, and the final spot on the face of the Milk Bowl Champion's granite stone, teams are expected from all over the Northeast and Canadian region. "The Toughest Short Track Race in America" is sure to please, but a 100-lap 'Reserve' Milkbowl offering an American Canadian Tour purse with $3,000 to win will be held for those who do not qualify. There will also be a Mini-Milk Bowl for Allen Lumber Street Stocks and Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen with extra money on the line. Undoubtedly the biggest racing event ever to occur in Vermont, Thunder Road has special events planned for the whole weekend.|
The 50th Milk Bowl will leave no detail behind; a champion dinner, tent dances, bonfires, fireworks, and more will all be part of the celebration. A band, drill team, and bagpipes will all be on hand to celebrate 50 great years of Milk Bowls. The race will be a whole-weekend experience.
"This certainly will be the biggest sporting event in the long history of Thunder Road," said longtime Promoter Tom Curley. "50 years is a remarkable accomplishment, and we're going to make this memorable for both fans and race teams."
2-day adult tickets sold at the gate will be $35 for the weekend, but an advance sale ticket will be sold for $30. Advance sale tickets can be bought through the Thunder Road office by calling (802) 244-6963, or at Bond Locations in Barre (2 locations), Montpelier, South Barre, Essex, Burlington, Bethel, Lebanon, Hardwick, Morrisville, or Rutland.
The 50th People's United Bank Milk Bowl will kickoff on the weekend of September 29th and 30th, with
qualifying shows on Saturday, and features on Sunday. Post time is 1pm for both days.
