Burlington, VT - The 9th Annual Fire Truck Pull, a competition between teams of 12 people dressed in a range of costumes, will happen Saturday, September 15th at noon on the Church Street Marketplace in Burlington.

According to Llu Mulvaney-Stanak, Outright's Director of Development, "the annual Fire Truck Pull is a spectacle of strength, accessories, and proof of how Vermonters are determined to make it better for queer youth in Vermont.  The event raises on average $25,000 a year and those funds go directly to supporting our anti-harassment work in schools and our many other programs that support queer youth's lives."

A team pulling the truck last year!

This year teams include Healthy Living, UVM's Greek Life, the Vermont-NEA, Vermont AFL-CIO, and Vermont State Employees Union (VSEA), and Vermont Democrats.  Community teams include, Team Lady Gaga, the "Pull Monty," Honeybadgers, Wet Hot Queer Summer, and the Queer Youth Team.

Each team will race to pull a real, fully loaded, Burlington City Fire Truck 30 feet up the second block (Mall block) of the Marketplace.

Prizes for most money raised, best dressed, fastest pull, and audience favorite will be awarded by Burlington's Mayor Miro Weinberger.

Members of the press are highly encouraged to attend.  This is a very camera-friendly community event and it draws thousands of onlookers on Church Street.
