Fatal Hit and Run in Johnson, Vermont

On June 30, 2012 at approximately 1:40 pm the Lamoille County Sheriff's Dept. responded to a motor vehicle accident on VT RT 15 in Johnson, approximately 3 miles west of Hyde Park.

A collision between a 2006 Harley Davison and a 1998 Subaru Legacy left a 56 year old Berlin, New Hampshire man, Ronald Turgeon dead. He was pronounced dead at Copley Hospital from blunt force trauma. The Vermont Medical Examiner's office will be conducting an autopsy the first part of the week.
Witnesses reported that the second vehicle, a green Subaru, had been involved in the crash and was seen fleeing the scene. The car was seen operating in the direction of Hyde Park. Lamoille County Sheriff's Dept. was assisted by Morristown Police and the Vermont State Police in the investigation. Northern Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported Mr. Turgeon to Copley Hospital. Johnson Fire Dept. assisted Lamoille County Sheriff's Dept. and the Vermont State Police Accident Reconstruction Team by directing traffic. VT RT 15 was shut down for several hours. At this time Lamoille County Sheriff's Dept. has spoken with 2 possible persons of interest and the incident is still actively being investigated.
