Seventh- and eighth-graders in teacher Betsy Unger's language arts classes at Crossett Brook Middle School hold butterflies, each in memory of a child who died in the Holocaust.

The genocide killed 6 million Jews in World War II.

After reading "I Never Saw Another Butterfly," drawings and poems from children at the Terezin concentration camp, the students made the butterflies for a Houston Holocaust Museum effort to gather 1.5 million butterflies from schoolchildren around the world to honor the 1.
