Montpelier's Langdon Street Cafe to close

The Langdon Street Cafe, a venue that has brought creative music and art as well as a sense of community to the state capital of Montpelier, is closing at the end of the month.

The coffee shop and bar was continually packed with crowds gathered to see musicians ranging from Vermont singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell to outside touring acts such as hushed folk-rockers The Low Anthem and kazoo-wielding jokesters The Two Man Gentlemen Band. But the cafe's Ben T. Matchstick said the Langdon Street Cafe was essentially run as an art project more than as a business, as a listening room and gathering place more than as a bar.
