Roads to Chimney Point Ferry Difficult to Navigate Waterbury Vermont

posted at 4:56 pm Fri Apr 29th, 2011 by (WherezIt_Staff)

Accessing the Chimney Point Ferry Dock in Addison, Vermont is currently possible but difficult as one road is closed and the other is reduced to one lane. The ferry is still running, but the area should be avoided if possible.

Route 125 is CLOSED between VT 17 and Jersey Street South. There is water over part of Route 17 about a quarter mile east of the Chimney Point Ferry dock, but traffic is being allowed over the dry part of the roadway. However, the water is slowly rising and the road could close at any time. Road signs are in place to provide guidance to motorists and alert them if the road closes.

The section of road is being closely monitored by the Agency of Transportation and local law enforcement to ensure travel conditions remain safe as long as it is open.

The Agency of Transportation is working to shore up the road to make it passable by all traffic, but it will take some time to get the temporary fix in place.

There are no plans to close the ferry.
