Tractor Trailer Collision - Interstate 89 in Middlesex

On 4-20-11, at approximately 1426 hours, Vermont State Police in Middlesex responded to a Tractor Trailer collision on Interstate 89 in Middlesex.

Upon arrival, Troopers observed a 2006 International Tractor Trailer that had traveled off the eastern portion of Interstate 89, Northbound and collided with a set of ledges head on. The Tractor Trailer jackknifed as a result and was blocking the travel lane of Interstate 89, Northbound.

Initial investigation showed that the operator, Vannatter Jr., was traveling northbound on Interstate 89 when the Tractor Trailer unit he was operating traveled off the eastern portion of Interstate 89 and collided with a set of ledges head-on. The Tractor Trailer sustained major front end damage and cab damage.

Vannatter Jr., who was extricated from the cab of the Tractor Trailer, sustained minor injuries.

Alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in this collision, which is still under investigation.
