Jose Cobo (b. 1958, Santander, Spain) studied at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago for a MFA in Sculpture (1985) and a Graduate Certificate in Art History, Theory and Criticism (1995). Solo exhibitions include the Maya Polsky Gallery in Chicago, Galeria Buades in Madrid, Galeria Alejandro Sales in Barcelona, Galeria Fernando Silio in Santander, Galeria Ferran Cano in Palma de Mallorca, (Spain), Galeria Vertice in Oviedo (Spain), Jon Oulman Gallery in Minneapolis, Fish Tank Gallery in New York, Sala de Arte Robayera in Miengo, Cantabria, (Spain), Arnes + Ropke in Madrid, and Galerie Stefan Ropke in Cologne (Germany). He participated in Art Chicago, ARCO (Madrid), FIAC (Paris), San Francisco International, Art Exposition, Art Miami, MACO (Mexico DF), Art Cologne (Germany), and Art Brussels (Belgium). He received the Beca de Artes Plasticas de la Fundacion Marclino Botin award in 1994. He has made several permanent outdoors public sculptures: "Monumento al Incendio y Reconstruccion de 1941", Santander, "Dos Toros", Madrid,"Raqueros", Santander, "Banistas", Castro Urdiales, Cantabria, "Sulero", Santona, Cantabria, "Hermanos Tonetti", Santander.
