Still Time for New Vote on Fire Plans

Waterbury's firefighters have reached a consensus on a new plan to replace the aging fire stations in the town and village.

Firefighter criticism was a major factor in a Town Meeting Day vote March 2, rejecting a $3.3 million plan to replace the stations, both of which are more than 50 years old.

A new proposal, which would replace both the village and town stations on their existing sites - Main Street in the village and Maple Street in the town - has the full support of the fire department.
