Bolton Valley Snow Report - April 2, 2010 Bolton Vermont

Friday: Sunshine And Summer Temperatures

Well, this should be fun. After an ugly start to the week, we began a new weather pattern yesterday that ought to carry us straight through our final weekend. Fortunately for everybody, that weather pattern is dominated by sunshine and summer-like temperatures. We expect to see mostly sunny skies again today, with ridiculous, record-setting highs approaching 70F. Winds will be light out of the south--but even if they were gale-force, we would still have an unbelievable day of spring skiing on our hands.

Operations-wise, we don't plan on making any changes: we'll have 3 open lifts, about 42 open trails, and all 3 parks. The Vista Quad starts things off at 9am, followed by Snowflake and Mitey Mite at 10am. We'll let Ski Patrol assess conditions, and that trail count may change. Reasonable overnight temps allowed our diligent groomers to retrace their steps on about 10 trails before dawn, leaving behind true spring surfaces once again: mostly loose granular snow early in the morning, quickly softening beneath the sunshine and rising temperatures.

Don't forget our spring ticket deals: all lift tickets are just $29 for the rest of the season, while Nordic tickets are only $10. And next year's Alpine and Nordic Season Passes are now on sale, with prices increasing after April 4th.

Spring conditions are the story on our Nordic terrain, as well, with variable coverage on our lower trails. The best skiing can be found in the higher elevations of our backcountry, which features 80km of ungroomed terrain. We kept the machines off of our trails again, leaving us with 5km of skate skiing on spring conditions best-suited for adventurous or expert skiers. The wax of the day is Klister.

We only have three more days of skiing at Bolton Valley this season, and if it's got to end, it might as well end hot, sunny, and soft. So grab the sun block and enjoy.

The conditions below are our projections for Friday, April 2nd as of 6:30am. For the latest updates on trail openings, snow surfaces, and lift status, please check our online Snow Report. And while you're over there, swing by the Photo Gallery for visual evidence of our most recent conditions.
