Thursday: Clearing Skies To Begin A Sunny Streak

The first half of this week has thrown everything it has at us, but things ought to be much improved today. Some early-morning haze should give way to beautiful sunny skies before lunchtime. Let's all try to remember what that looks like. Temperatures will be much warmer, as well, with highs topping 60F, while winds remain light and variable.

The numbers stay the same today: we'll spin 3 lifts, serving about 42 open trails, and all 3 parks. The Vista Quad starts things off at 9am, followed by Snowflake and Mitey Mite by 10am. We'll let Ski Patrol assess conditions, and that trail count may change. The snow firmed up enough overnight for our inexhaustible groomers to smooth out about 10 trails, and we expect true spring surfaces: loose granular snow early on, firm in places, rapidly softening later beneath the sunshine and rising temperatures.

Don't forget our spring ticket deals: all lift tickets are just $29 for the rest of the season, while Nordic tickets are only $10. And next year's Alpine and Nordic Season Passes are now on sale, with prices increasing after April 4th.

Our Nordic conditions remain spring-like, as well, with variable coverage on our lower trails. The best skiing can be found in the higher elevations of our backcountry, which features 80km of ungroomed terrain. We kept the machines off of our Nordic trails last night, leaving us with about 5km of skate groomed terrain. These spring conditions are generally best-suited to adventurous or expert skiers. The wax of the day is Klister.

We've suffered through all manner of messy weather so far this week. But I think our patience will be rewarded over these next four days. We fully expect the season to end as every season should: with sunshine, soft snow, and short-sleeves. Enjoy.

The conditions below are our projections for Thursday, April 1st as of 6:35am. For the latest updates on trail openings, snow surfaces, and lift status, please check our online Snow Report. And while you're over there, swing by the Photo Gallery for visual evidence of our most recent conditions.
