Court Wrong Venue for Runoff

The Vermont Supreme Court has heard arguments on a case that is likely to have profound effects on the state over the next several years at least.

The case involves the wastewater treatment permit for Montpelier, but the larger issue is the growing pollution problem in Lake Champlain.

Pretty much everyone involved agrees that there is too much phosphorous getting into the state's largest and most important lake, with the most obvious result being large algae blooms that make the water less pleasant for recreational use and less welcoming to native aquatic species, and generally threaten the health of the waterway.
