Inside Announcers' Booth

Stepping off the chairlift at Whistler Creekside, where all the Olympic alpine events took place, it was odd to hear familiar voices booming through the sound system.

As it turned out, all three announcers had strong Vermont connections, which is what ultimately got me in the announcer's booth for the men's second run of giant slalom.

Doug Lewis, an Olympian who lives in Waitsfield, JP Daigneault, a coach at Green Mountain Valley School (who is Canadian), and Chris Davenport, a well-known big mountain skier and former alpine racer with Stowe ties, formed a trio of excitement and commentary throughout the Games.
