Bolton Valley Snow Report - February 10, 2010 Bolton Valley Vermont

Wednesday: Morning Clouds And A Kiss Of Snow

The major snowstorms may have been dragged southward this last week or so, but the northern Vermont mountains have been squeezing every bit of moisture out of our sky: half a foot of snow has fallen in the last 72 hours, twice that much in the last 7 days. And I'm confident those snow clouds will eventually find their way northward where they belong. We expect to see snow showers this afternoon, with temps reaching the upper 20s, and light north winds. Snow may linger overnight, as we get kissed by that southern storm, and the rest of the week holds the potential for several modest snowfalls. So don't let the news from New York and Washington dampen your winter spirits.

The Mid-Mountain Double rejoins our lineup today, giving us 5 open lifts for mid-week carving. The Vista Quad begins our morning at 9am, followed by Timberline at 9:30, and all the rest shortly thereafter. Those lifts will serve 55 open trails, including all 3 terrain parks, on a primary surface of packed powder provided by our diligent groomers, who've hit about 25 trails before dawn. Ungroomed surfaces are mostly powder, though variable and windblown areas remain. We'll keep the lights on until 8pm for night skiing, featuring 4 lifts, all 3 parks, and our weekly Night Riders event. And don't forget that group lessons for kids 12-and-under are just $29 for the rest of the season.

Our Nordic conditions are excellent, with packed powder surfaces on 12km of skate groomed terrain. The remaining 80km of our Nordic system is ungroomed backcountry, open to skiers or snowshoers, with surfaces of mostly powder. The wax of the day is Blue.

We've been doing quite well for ourselves up here in the northern Greens, so you don't have to stare longingly at the alarmist news reports from the mid-Atlantic. If you want snow, we've got it. And, unlike our friends down south, we know what to do with it. Enjoy.

The conditions below are our projections for Wednesday, February 10th, as of 6:50am. For the latest updates on trail openings, snow surfaces, and lift status, please check our online Snow Report. And while you're over there, swing by the Photo Gallery for visual evidence of our most recent conditions.
