Bolton Valley Snow Report - January 20, 2010 Bolton Valley Vermont

Wednesday: Snow Showers and Seasonable Temps

After picking up a well-received 3" of snow early yesterday, we saw a dusting on the mountain overnight and expect snow showers to linger for much of today under otherwise cloudy skies. The forecast beyond today's clouds turns rather bright, with sunshine predominant through the end of the week and into the weekend. If, like me, you've forgotten what the Sun looks like, try Wikipedia. Temperatures today will remain seasonable, as highs reach the upper-20s with moderate north winds. It's Goldilocks weather: not too hot, not too cold.

We plan to run 5 lifts today, serving 54 of our 64 trails including all three terrain parks. About one-third of those trails have been groomed out overnight, leaving a primary surface of packed powder. Our first lift to open will be the Vista Quad at 9am, followed by Timberline at 9:30am. Mitey Mite and Snowflake join the action at 10am, followed by Mid-Mountain at noon. We'll keep 4 lifts spinning until 8pm this evening for night skiing, including the first session of our season-long Night Riders series. And you can once again grab a 5-Day Powder Pass and save up to $61 on tickets that are good anytime this season.

Conditions remain very good on our Nordic terrain, as well, with nice packed powder surfaces. We have about 15km of fresh skate grooming and classic tracks for today, covering 7 trails. The remaining 85km of our trail system is ungroomed backcountry, open for exploration on skis or snowshoes. The wax of the day is Blue. And those 5-day and 10-day Nordic punch card are still available to save you up to $50 this season.

Some snow showers today. Some sunshine tomorrow. Sounds splendid to me. Just like unnecessary alliteration.

The conditions below are our projections for Wednesday, January 20th as of 6:35am. For the latest updates on trail openings, snow surfaces, and lift status, please check our online Snow Report. And while you're over there, swing by the Photo Gallery for visual evidence of our most recent conditions.
