Sunshine, Untracked Lines, and Rising Temps

Over a foot of fresh snow since Monday morning has the mountain in great shape, and yesterday's high winds kept skiers and riders off almost all of it. Which means our terrain is still full of untracked lines. Remember: a Powder Day delayed, is still a Powder Day. And we'll enjoy all that carving under sunny skies, with warmer temps in the mid-teens and milder winds conspiring to make today the Greatest Day In the History of [what's left of] the Decade.

We'll have top to bottom skiing again on Wilderness and Timberline today, while the Vista Quad remains off-line with a mechanical issue. The Mid-Mountain chair will be the first of our 5 lifts to open at 8:30am. We expect to have 44 open trails this morning, three quarters of which are groomed, on surfaces of excellent powder and packed powder. Don't forget that we'll host night skiing until 8pm this evening. Also mark your calendar for the Torchlight Parade, fireworks, and our holiday week events.

Our Nordic conditions remain very good as well, with skate grooming and classic tracks set on 7 trails, covering about 15km. The other 86km of our terrain remains open but ungroomed, and skiers should be aware that ungroomed backcountry trails have variable conditions, with higher elevations holding the most snow. And remember to pick up a Nordic 5-Day or 10-Day punch card to save up to $50 this season.

It's always frustrating to have the type of high winds we battled yesterday. But that was Tuesday, and I never liked Tuesday anyway. Now we have this lovely Wednesday, with sunshine, rising temps, and all that snow. I say we're better off.

These conditions below are our projections for Wednesday, December 30th as of 6:50am. For the latest updates on trail openings, snow surfaces, and lift status, please check our online Snow Report. And while you're over there, swing by the Photo Gallery for visual evidence of our most recent conditions.
