Vermont is mourning the loss of yet another soldier in the war in Iraq. Private Adam Muller, 21, died Monday when the Humvee he was riding in ran over an improvised explosive device. His Humvee was last in a convoy of military vehicles.

Word of Muller's death spread quickly through his hometown of Richmond, where many flags are flying at half-staff.

Muller actually grew up just down the road in Jonesville. He graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School in 2004 and went on to study at Vermont Technical College before joining the U.S. Army last year.

A friend of the family told WCAX News that Muller loved soccer and baseball, and that her son loved playing racquetball with Muller. She described Muller as a sweet young man, and in her words he was "just a love."

Muller was recently married and leaves behind a 19-year-old wife, his parents and a sister.

Gov. Jim Douglas, R-Vermont, sent out a statement Tuesday morning honoring Muller and thanking him for his service to the country.
