Until recently it was hard to find many captivating non-fiction titles for middle school kids, or books where people of color weren't just secondary characters or civil rights leaders, or biographies of kick-ass women doing their thing. Fear not--this is the year you'll find them on the shelves. Come explore how our shelves are evolving!

The first printing of a short book of poems by Maisie Elkins arrived this week at Bear Pond Books on Main Street in Stowe.

We are one of the ten largest independent bookstores in New England, with over 4,000 square feet of retail space.

You will find all the latest New York Times best sellers and most popular titles, plus hundreds of Vermont and regional authors, who can be hard to find on the shelves of the chain stores. The entire front section of our store is dedicated to Vermont - in Fiction, Children's, Outdoor Sports, Photography, Poetry, History and more. Some names you will find are Tasha Tudor, Natalie Kinsey-Warnock, Gail Gibbons, Chris Bohjalian, Joseph Citro, Johnathan Irving, Archer Mayor, Howard Frank Mosher, Reeve Lindberg, Howard Coffin, Sabra Field, Mary Azarian, and Robert Frost, to name a few. When a new book comes out by a local author, we will often have them in for a signing.

We have the best card selection in the area, with many occasions and styles to choose from. You can also find a variety of Calendars, Journals, Gift Wrap & Bags, Address Books, Audio Books, Games, Magazines, Puzzles, Maps and Atlases, Postcards, and CD's from local entertainers like The Von Trapps and Rusty Dewees.
