Four Vermonters chosen as part of the US team going to the Nordic Junior World Championships/Under-23 Cross Country Championships in Tarvisio, Italy

Thirty-seven athletes have been named to compete at the Nordic Junior World Championships/Under-23 Cross Country Championships in Tarvisio, Italy, the U.S. Ski Team said. Four of them are from Vermont.

The championships originally were to be held Jan. 29-Feb. 4, but poor snow conditions forced their postponement. No dates have been announced for the rescheduled championships, U.S. Nordic Director Luke Bodensteiner said.

The team roster includes:


  • Jennie Bender, 19, Johnson, VT/University of Vermont
  • Liz Stephen, 20, East Montpelier, VT/Burke Mountain Academy/U.S. Ski Team
  • Parker Tyler, 17, Brattleboro, VT/Stratton Mountain
  • Morgan Smyth, 20, Vernon, VT/Northern Michigan U./U.S. Ski Team
