Motor Vehicle Accident


Vt. State Police - 8:55 am Fri Dec 8th, 2006

State Police, Barnet Rescue Squad and Barnet VFD responded to a tractor trailer accident on Interstate 91 northbound during the early evening hours of 12/07/2006.

The tractor trailer unit was attempting to move into the travel lane from the passing lane when the driver lost control of the tractor trailer unit. Initially he struck the guardrail on the left side of the road. He crossed the two lanes and broke through the wire guardrail on the right side of the road.

The tractor trailer rolled down a 40 foot embankment, rolling fully at least once. The cargo from the box trailer (boxes of glass bottles) were scattered along the embankment. The trailer was torn open and was completely destroyed. The driver of the tractor trailer unit was able to get out of the tractor on his own and was uninjured. The road condition at the time of the accident was snow-covered.
