Vt. State Police - 11:10 am Fri Nov 24th, 2006

Troopers from the State Police barracks in Williston, along with representatives of UVM Police Services and the South Burlington Police Department, re

sponded to more than a dozen vehicle off I-89 between Exit's 13 and 18 from approximately 0630 and 0900 hours on 11-24-06.
A few vehicles were not damaged and only needed to be pulled back onto the roadway. The majority sustained moderate damage, while several vehicle rolled over and were totaled. In one incident, a tow truck positioned on the side of I-89 [actively removing a vehicle] was struck by an on-coming vehicle. Only one (1) injury was reported and the female operator was transported to Fletcher Allen. The majority of the collisions are still under investigation, but black ice was a contributing factor in all.
The Vermont State Police remind ALL driver to use caution, as weather conditions can change without warning.
