Motor Vehicle Accident

Vt. State Police - 1:25 pm Mon Nov 6th, 2006

State Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Memorial Drive in St.

Johnsbury Center, where an individual struck the fence in front of Top Carpet
Cleaners. The operator identified himself as Ed Garfield and then left the
scene. Two fence posts were damaged (broken off at the base) and several of the
cross beams were knocked to the ground as a result of the impact. Follow-up
investigation determined that Garfield had turned into the Top Carpet Cleaners
parking lot and as he went to exit the lot, he collided with one of the fence
posts. Garfield was issued a traffic ticket for unsafely starting a stopped or
standing vehicle.
