Vt. State Police - 2:32 pm Fri Aug 11th, 2006
On July 20, 2006 at approximately 2:22 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a car vs motorcycle accident located on the Bolton Valley Access Road in Bolton. Austin Holzer was operating a 1995 Saab 900SE and was traveling westbound on the Bolton Valley Access Road. Benjamin Willett was operating a
2005 Honda CBR 1000cc and was traveling eastbound on the Bolton Valley Access Road.
As Holzer was traveling westbound, he did not see any oncoming traffic and made a left turn into a side road. While making the left turn, Holzer observed a motorcycle traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. Holzer sped up in an attempt to enter the side road quickly and avoid a collision with the motorcycle.
Willett observed Holzer making the left turn and applied his brakes. Willett's motorcycle skidded 180 feet before falling onto it's side. Willett and the motorcycle continued sliding on the roadway and impacted the passenger's side of Holzer's vehicle.
Willett sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Holzer did not sustain any injuries. Both vehicles were total losses.
The accident is still under investigation.
