Your Table could be a Star

We need a table for the show "The Drawer Boy". What we would like is the old style kitchen table with the linoleum top, a metal band around the outside edge, and the chrome legs.

The Waterbury Festival Players present shows in the summer and fall. Here is our 2010 schedule:

Murder's Bad but Monday can Kill You

Directed by George Pierce
Written by Pat Cook
Produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing
Shows (Evenings at 7:30pm):
Thu. 7/1 - Sat. 7/3, Wed. 7/7 - Sat. 7/10, Wed. 7/14 - Sat. 7/17

Harry's back! That's right, Harry Monday, that Sam Spade wannabe in the trench coat and gumshoes, is hot and on his latest case. Does he know what he's doing? Who knows? Is he over his head? Of course. Especially when its a triple homicide at the Restful Glen Psychiatric Annex. Only after he arrives does he find out that its one guy with three personalities. Who killed Jeffrey Stadtlander? Was it the congressman who, in a crisis, becomes Edgar Allan Poe? Or maybe it was the librarian who runs hot and cold? Or what about the mailman who has more personalities than he ever had on his route? "Clues are falling like cigarettes in the boys' bathroom," he says as he soon finds himself committed and not just to the case. This wise-cracking whodunit will have you guessing until the final red herring or perhaps Harry's goose is cooked.

Unnecessary Farce

Directed by Marcel Freda
Written by Paul Slade Smith
Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts
Shows (Evenings at 7:30pm):
Thu. 8/12 - Sat. 8/14, Wed. 8/18 - Sat. 8/21, Wed. 8/25 - Sat. 8/28

Two cops. Three crooks. Eight doors. Go. In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the room next-door, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But there's some confusion as to who's in which room, who's being videotaped, who's taken the money, who's hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes.

The Drawer Boy

Directed by George Pierce
Written by Michael Healey
Shows (Evenings at 7:30pm):
Thu. 9/23 - Sat. 9/25, Wed. 9/29 - Sat. 10/2, Wed. 10/6 - Sat. 10/9

Michael Healey's The Drawer Boy, about an ambitious city actor who uncovers a long-buried family secret when he ventures into farm country to research the lives of two aging bachelors, is one of the most successful plays in Canadian theatre history. Since its premiere in 1999 at Toronto's Theatre Passe Muraille, The Drawer Boy has won countless awards, including Canada's Governor General's Literary Award and The Helen Hayes Award.

It continues to delight enthralled houses across Canada, The United States, and around the world. In 2001, The Drawer Boy made Time Magazine's top ten list as "a new classic", and in 2004 it became the most produced play in American regional theatres. John Mahoney of TV's Frasier has appeared in the show in Chicago and Ireland. It was recently remounted at Theatre Passe Muraille, home of early success in Toronto.

    The Clean House

This play was very well done and we had an enjoyable night at the theater. The lead actress was excellent.

This is an intimate theater and you are right there with the performers. Waterbury Festival Players continue to provide quality theater in a distinctly rural Vermont setting.

My only disappointment with the whole experience were some members of the audience distracting from the performance, this however is not the fault of the theater company.

We saw The Clean House July 23rd. This was my first experience attending live theater in quite a few years. The seating is close to the stage, so you feel like you are right in the livingroom with the performers. The lead in the play, Jess Silva was outstanding! The entire cast put on a wonderful performance. Even though the audience was within arms reach, they acted as if we weren't even there. We plan on seeing both remaining shows this season!
