Construction Update
Stowe-Morristown STP PS19(3)
Roadway Reclamation Project
DATE: Friday, July 31, 2020
PROJECT TYPE: Stowe-Morristown STP PS19(3) is a roadway reclamation project on VT Route 100 in Stowe and Morristown. Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) is a process of recycling the existing pavement and using it to form the base layer for the new roadway-wear surface.
LOCATION: This project is along VT Route 100 in the Towns of Stowe and Morristown. The project limits extend from the Town of Stowe about 900 ft south of the West Hill Road intersection on VT Route 100 into Morristown and ends on Historic VT-100 near Audy Lane, just past the intersection of LaPorte Road & ALT Route 100.
TRAFFIC IMPACT: Traffic will be reduced to an alternating one-way traffic pattern in Stowe and Morristown along Route 100 and Historic VT-100. There will be a gravel surface throughout the project limits in Morristown and Stowe. Flaggers will be on site in multiple locations to assist motorists through the work zone. Motorists should expect delays. Reduce speed and drive cautiously.
DURATION: Construction activities will be conducted Saturday, August 1 in Morristown and continue again on Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 7. Work in Stowe, from the Stowe project limit, about 900 ft south of the West Hill Road intersection to Stagecoach Road, will be conducted between 9 AM and 4 PM. All work in Morristown and work in Stowe, from Stagecoach Road to the Stowe-Morristown town line, will be performed between 7 AM and 6 PM. All activities are weather dependent.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES/NOTICES: On Saturday, crews will continue reclaiming the roadway in Morristown. On Monday, crews will begin reclaiming work in Stowe, starting at the Stowe-Morristown town line and moving towards the Stowe project limits, about 900 ft south of the West Hill Road intersection to the Stowe-Morristown town line. This week, crews will also begin paving in Morristown from the Morristown Corners Road to the Stowe-Morristown town line.
As part of Governor Scott’s "Work Smart, Stay Safe" order, all construction crews are currently subject to safety restrictions and precautions.
PROJECTED COMPLETION: The majority of the construction work is planned for the 2020 construction season. In 202I, the final wearing surface will be placed.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: Motorists are advised to remain vigilant and drive with caution through the project area. Travel in Morristown and Stowe will be on a gravel roadway surface. The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced from 50 MPH to 40 MPH. Motorists are reminded to adhere to the work zone signage. Fines are doubled for speeding violations in the project area.
