PROJECT TYPE: Stowe-Morristown STP PS19(3) is a roadway reclamation project on VT Route 100 in Stowe and Morristown. Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) is a process of recycling the existing pavement and using it to form the base layer for the new roadway-wear surface.
LOCATION: This project is along VT Route 100 in the Towns of Stowe and Morristown. The project limits extend from the Town of Stowe about 900 ft south of the West Hill Road intersection on VT Route 100 into Morristown and ends on Historic VT-100 near Audy Lane, just past the intersection of LaPorte Road & ALT Route 100.
TRAFFIC IMPACT:Traffic will be reduced to an alternating one-way traffic pattern in Stowe and Morristown. Motorists should expect to travel along a gravel surface throughout the project limits in Morristown. Flaggers will be on site in multiple locations to assist motorists through the work zone. Reduce speed and drive cautiously.
DURATION: Monday, July 13 through Friday, July 17, crews will be working in Morristown between 6 AM and 7 PM and in Stowe between 9 AM and 4 PM. All activities are weather dependent.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES/NOTICES: Beginning Monday, crews will continue working on underdrain in Stowe and will continue adding gravel to the roadway to correct roadway widths and geometry in Morristown, from the Stowe-Morristown town line to Morristown Corners Road. Beginning Thursday, July 16, crews will start the second reclamation pass in Morristown, beginning at Morristown Corners Road and progressing south. Also, on Thursday, crews will begin milling in Stowe, beginning at the project limits about 900 ft south of the West Hill Road intersection and continuing north.
As part of Governor Scott’s "Work Smart, Stay Safe" order, all construction crews are currently subject to safety restrictions and precautions.
PROJECTED COMPLETION: The majority of the construction work is planned for the 2020 construction season. In 202I, the final wearing surface will be placed.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: Motorists are advised to remain vigilant and drive with caution through the project area. Travel in Morristown will be on a gravel roadway surface. The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced from 50 MPH to 40 MPH. Motorists are reminded to adhere to the work zone signage. Fines are doubled for speeding violations in the project area.
