When is the Library going to re-open?
Since many people may be wondering,
"When is the library building going to open?"
we wanted to give you some information around that, such as we have it now.
We anticipate that Governor Scott will be making an announcement on Friday that libraries may begin a gradual re-opening beyond the Curbside Service, if we are able to meet the many requirements for health and safety.
The Town of Waterbury asked the Library back in March, in anticipation of significantly reduced revenues, to reduce our spending. Towards that end we laid off or reduced staff and cut money from numerous other area in our budget. This will impact when we can open the building, and what services we can offer.
In normal times, libraries are high-touch, high-interaction public spaces. We are required to have detailed plans, adequate supplies, and sufficient staffing in place for alternate operations and service models before we can welcome any members of the public back into the building. The director, staff and library commissioners are currently developing a phased re-opening plan.
We will have more information to share with you in the coming week and will keep you informed via newsletter, website and social media.
Book Drop Open for Returns
As we continue to offer Curbside Service,
the Book Drop Box is OPEN and we'd love to get your library materials back! If you have things that have been out since March, please make your way down to the Library as you are able and return your items in the Drop Box, or on the cart in the vestibule if you come in for a Curbside Pickup.
Please wear your mask and maintain physical distance of at least 6 feet or more.
If the Drop Box is full, please come back another time rather than stuff things in or leave things on top. It is much appreciated. Thank you!
