Vt. State Police - 6:40 pm Mon Oct 7th, 2019
On October 7, 2019, at approximately 1400 hours, Troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks were notified of a one-vehicle crash at US Route 4 and Stoney Meadows Lane, Mendon, Vermont.
Through investigation, it was determined that Operator #1 (Fonseca) was operating Vehicle #1, traveling from Rutland City to Rhode Island via US Route 4. Fonseca attempted to make a lane change which caused him to go off of the roadway, into a ditch. It took multiple heavy wreckers to extract the vehicle from the ditch, causing the entire roadway to be blocked and traffic diverted to an alternate route.
The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Rutland City Fire Department, Regional Ambulance Service, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
