WATERBURY, Vt., - The Agency of Human Services Secretary Al Gobeille announced today that Reeva Murphy will be stepping down as Deputy Commissioner within the Department for Children and Families (DCF). Reeva Murphy has served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Child Development Division (CDD) within DCF for the last ten years.

During her tenure, Deputy Commissioner Murphy has overseen transformative initiatives in early care and learning in the State of Vermont including design and implementation of Childrens' Integrated Services and significant improvements to the Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP). Most recently, Reeva lent her considerable expertise to legislators in the design of the increased funding to CCFAP included in the FY2020 budget passed by the General Assembly and signed by Governor Scott.

"I want to thank Reeva for her commitment to the children and future of Vermont," said Secretary of Human Services Al Gobeille. "Reeva's focus on policy development has had a positive impact on our state and the impact of CDD's many accomplishments will be felt for years."

"I will miss having Reeva's energy on our team, but wish her well in her next adventure," said Commissioner of DCF Ken Schatz. "Vermont's children are better for having had Reeva fighting for them every day."

"The decision to step down as Deputy Commissioner isn't an easy one, but I feel as if I may have one more adventure in early childhood to tackle before I put away my crayon box," said Deputy Commissioner Reeva Murphy. "It has been a distinct pleasure and a privilege to work with the staff of CDD and all of our partners to make Vermont a safe, welcoming, nurturing place to be a kid and raise a family."
