Field Trip: Rock of Ages Granite Quarry Waterbury Vermont

Rock of Ages is North America's Premier Granite Quarrier and Manufacturer. The Granite Industry and Barre, Vermont were featured prominently in the Vermont Reads 2018 book, Bread and Roses, Too. Our field trip is to honor the many immigrants that made such a huge contribution to the granite industry, and shaped our labor force today.

Witness the process of quarrying and learn about the manufacturing of granite. The guided quarry tour takes you to an overlook of the Smith Quarry, the largest operating deep-hole, dimension granite quarry in the world. It is nearly 600 feet deep.

Our bus leaves the library at 9 am and returns by 3 pm. To ensure you have a seat on the bus, you must register by August 15th. If not enough people sign up, we will car pool on our own.

Admission for the group rate is $4.25 for adults and seniors and $2.00 for children ages 6-13. If 20 people don't sign up then standard admission applies ($5.00 for adults, $4.50 for seniors 62+, and $2.50 per child)

For ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by a care-giver.

Call 244-7036 to sign up and for more information.
