Casey Steven Kuhns, 30, of Morrisville died unexpectedly at home Feb. 28, 2018.

He was born June 3, 1987, in Morrisville and was a 2005 graduate of Lamoille Union High School.

Casey worked tirelessly to provide for his family and his community. He started his career before graduating from high school at Jana's Cupboard in Jeffersonville as a dishwasher and prep cook and as a mechanic at Steve and Jim Mandigo's garage in Morrisville.

After high school, he worked for Lil' Putty's Lawn Care. He then acquired his commercial driver's license and drove an 18-wheeler for Pepsi Bottling Co. out of Burlington for a short time. He then worked for Perras Bros. for a couple of years and Contractors Crane Service before taking a job with the Morristown Highway Department.

He loved serving his community by being a firefighter. He served on the Johnson and Hyde Park departments and was a second lieutenant on the Morrisville Fire Department and an emergency medical technician with the Morrisville Emergency and Rescue Department.

He loved camping, four-wheeling, hunting and fishing, and spending time with friends.

Cased loved spending his off-time doing things with his family and fiancee, Brittney; they had planned to marry this summer.

Survivors include his parents, Lisa and Brian LaMonda of Wolcott and Jeffrey Kuhns of Cambridge; his sister, Kaylyn Bohannon and husband Chris of Charlotte; his fiancee, Brittney Fisk; his children, Shane, Lacey, Harley and Natalie; and his grandmother, Sue Ellen Russell of Apache Junction, Ariz. His brother, Curtis Kuhns, died earlier.

The funeral will be Thursday, March 8, at 11 a.m. at Lamoille Valley Church of the Nazarene, Route 15, Johnson. Calling hours were held Wednesday at the Morrisville Fire Station. Burial will be in the spring.

Faith Funeral Home is assisting the family.
