Man denies assaulting woman at local hotel

A Tennessee man is accused of attacking a woman at a hotel in Berlin. Eric R. Scott, 42, of Crossville, pleaded not guilty in Chittenden County criminal court in Burlington on Tuesday to a felony count of first-degree aggravated domestic assault.

If convicted, Scott could face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. He was ordered held on $5,000 bail.

According to the affidavit of Officer Karie Tucker of the Berlin police, Tucker was dispatched to the Comfort Inn & Suites on Paine Turnpike North Saturday. She said she spoke with a woman who had a bruise under her left eye.
