DUXBURY - Shirley C. Marshall, 60, of Duxbury, found her way to heaven Dec. 12, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, succumbing to an extended struggle with cancer. She was born March 4, 1956, in Barre, the daughter of Ramona Coffin.
Shirley extraordinarily cherished her family and friends, her children and grandchildren taking the significant part of her heart. She worked hard throughout her adult life to make sure her children would be well taken care of.
Shirley had many friends through her work in the public eye, working for many years at the Feed Bag restaurant in Moretown and eventually purchasing the Depot Beverage in Waterbury where she loved her customers like they were family. As well, she enjoyed her involvement with the Compassionate Friends (Kin raising Kin Network).
Shirley always found the best in people and was easy to befriend. She would make the time to help anyone in need. She always had a kindhearted smile and a warm hug for any that needed one.
Shirley found pleasure working in her flower gardens where she could view her creations from her deck. Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, soft nature and unshakable quality in the face of tremendous struggle, always claiming to be "100 percent."
She will always be loved by her husband of 32 years, Michael Marshall; her children, Sonni Martindale and his companion, Sarah Taylor, Donni (Martindale) Caggiano and her husband, Nick; her stepchildren, Seth Marshall and Jessie Marshall; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Cheyenne, Michael, David, Brooke, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Owen, Annabelle and Joshua; her sisters, Sue Ann and Bobbi Jo Coffin; her brothers, Greg Coffin and his wife, Sandy, Michael Coffin; father and mother in-law Jerry and Barb; brothers and sister-in-law Teri, Timothy, Peter and David; and loving friends galore.
Her mother preceded her, as did a son, Raini, and daughter Nikki.
An informal celebration for Shirley's love of life will be held at the American Legion in Waterbury on Dec. 29, 2016, from 3 to 7 p.m.
