Waterbury Women Crashes into Utility Pole After Falling a Sleep Behind the Wheel

On Friday, Dec. 2, at 4:44 p.m. Vermont State Police Troopers from the Rutland Station responded to a one vehicle traffic crash located on Vermont Route 100 at the South Hill Road intersection located in Pittsfield.

Through investigation it was determined Susan April, age 67 from Waterbury, Vt., was traveling north on Route 100, with her husband William April, 66, as a passenger. Police reported that Susan April fell asleep at the wheel and as a result traveled off the east side of the road where the vehicle struck a utility pole. As a result of the crash the utility pole was severed resulting in power wires to cross the road, which closed Route 100.
