A nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, Scout Film Festival (Scout) is a Vermont event which takes place annually in Stowe, VT. Our inaugural festival will be held in June of 2016.|
Scout celebrates short films written, produced and directed by high school student filmmakers worldwide.
Today's teens have a deep desire to share their individual stories. Through the arts and film, specifically, teens are able to expose what is important, relevant, enlightening, scary, intimidating, hilarious and exciting in their world, through their lens.
Scout will showcase these original youth films in a professional-level, annual competition.
Young filmmakers of various backgrounds, cultures, ideologies, creative tools and environments can come together to share and appreciate their craft, expand their horizons, and find a place where their curiosity, viewpoints and belief in self are championed. They will meet people and discover resources to help them envision and achieve their goals within the film industry and other endeavors.
Scout is located in the heart of resort town Stowe, Vermont, named by the Smithsonian in 2015 as one of the best, small US towns to visit. Just 35 miles from Burlington International Airport, with over 35 lodging properties, 49 sit-down restaurants and 10 or so sandwich shops/delis Stowe is well-equipped for and very familiar with events of all distinctions, interests and sizes. Scout will utilize downtown and mountain venues alike in order to benefit every business in the community from the peak of the mountain to the foot of the valley. To this end, Scout will organize multiple screening, panel and communing spaces, partnering with leading local venues.
