Greetings MRG Skiers,
But... we'll be back real soon!
The wacky weather roller coaster just keeps rolling along this Spring. We are expecting to see the mercury surge well in to the 70's today. Interestingly we saw some higher elevation snow here on the mountain earlier in the week and there are flakes in the forecast for the weekend believe it or not. Crazy stuff indeed! There are just a few small dots of snow left in the shady spots up high but they are going fast so if you feel the need to slide around up there do it soon.
General Stark's Pub is on a brief hiatus this spring and will re-open on Thursday June 2nd. Sunday brunch and expanded hours are the big news on that front. Check out all the details below.

In the meantime please feel free to come on up and enjoy the mountain. Hiking is always a great excuse to be outside, enjoy the scenery and get some exercise. Check out the Hiking Guide to General Stark Mountain.
Still Skiing The Patches on May 6th!

We can get pretty lonely up here this time of year and we always like visitors.  The Co-op Office is open Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 4 PM throughout the off season if you need anything at all or just want to talk skiing. We'd love it if you popped in to say hello.
Be sure to stay tuned for updates throughout the off-season. We sure hope to see you here in the Mad River Valley this summer. Enjoy it and then it will once again be time to....

Gen. Stark's Pub Expands Summer Hours
General Stark's Pub  will re-open the first week in June serving up tasty vittles, a huge selection of local brews and that famous Mad River Glen conviviality every weekend through the fall foliage season.

The Pub's growing popularity in the off-season has encouraged us to expand the hours of operation, enhance the menu selections and create some great new specials. The pub will now be open four days a week and the buzz about Sunday Brunch at MRG is getting around town like wildfire.  There are also plans afoot to make the whole experience even more fun so come on up and see what what's going on and to learn why Gen. Stark's Pub has become  one of the hottest places in the Mad River Valley. We'll be serving up the new summer pub menu each day along with these daily specials;

Summer Work - More Than Meets the Eye
Rebuilding the Snowmaking Pump
After the kind of ski season that we just went through you probably won't be too surprised to hear that there won't be much on the capital improvement list for the summer.
That being said the Mountain Ops crew is hard at work doing their regular maintenance of the lifts (5 of them), vehicles (snowcats, snowmobiles, mowers, trucks and ATV's), buildings and snowmaking infrastructure. The most significant project will be the replacement of one side of the Basebox roof. Nothing too sexy, just the basics that keep MRG looking good.

You'll be glad to know that despite the tight cash situation the guys will also still be actively engaged in the never-ending job of maintaining our beloved trail system. They know each and every water bar, culvert and thin soil area and they spend the summer
Always Workin' on Drainage
months constantly improving drainage and minimizing erosion issues. Plus they cut and split all the wood for use in the Basebox and Stark's Nest fireplaces.  Once again, nothing fancy, just another glamorous summer in the ski business!
Keep in mind that all of this work is done by a crew of only 4 guys. Chuck, Stevie, Nate and Pete all have long roots and many years of experience at Mad River Glen . The MRG community owes a debt of gratitude to these core employees for their contribution to the mountain.
