Construction Update: Week of April 25, 2016
The Town of Waterbury and VTrans would like to keep you informed of construction activities related to the following projects:

Waterbury Roundabout Project

Project Location: Intersection of Routes 100/2 in Waterbury east of the Roundabout by the railroad trestle.

Last week, crews implemented the temporary two-way traffic pattern on US 2 east of the Roundabout which will be used during construction. An 11 ft. lane restriction is in effect on US 2 within the temporary traffic pattern.

This week, construction activities will include removing the existing pavement and subgrade material and will be making drainage improvements within the boxed cut area throughout the week. Minor traffic delays can be expected.

I-89 Bridges Project at Exit 10 Northbound Off-Ramp in Waterbury.

Stowe Street - Traffic on Stowe Street can expect intermittent lane closures near the bridge for construction related activities. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic flow. There is a possibility that Stowe Street could have daily closures between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm towards the end of next week. The Stowe Street closure to thru traffic would be located under the closed NB Exit 10 off-ramp bridge.

I-89 NB Lane Divisions - Northbound lanes are divided starting approximately one mile south of Exit 10.
Northbound thru traffic is restricted to left lane use only. Traffic exiting I-89 at Exit 10 is restricted to right lane use only. A 50 mph speed limit is in effect within the divided lanes. Motorists are encouraged to merge early into their desired lanes.

Northbound traffic wanting to exit I-89 is being directed to use the temporary off-ramp detour that was constructed last year. A reduced speed limit of 25 mph is in effect on the temporary off-ramp detour. A 12 ft. lane restriction is in effect within the lane division and temporary off-ramp detour.

VT100 Duxbury - Culvert Project over Crossett Brook

Public Informational Meeting - The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) and Town of Duxbury will hold a Public Information Meeting on Monday, May 9, 2016 beginning at 6:00 PM at the Crossett Brook Middle School located at 5672 Vermont 100, Duxbury, Vermont.

The existing pipe metal arch culvert will be replaced during the 2016 construction season with a wider open bottom arch culvert to provide greater resiliency to larger storm event and aquatic organism passage. Traffic will be maintained on an off-alignment two-lane, two-way temporary bridge. There may be periodic short term lane closures to allow the contractor access to the site.

The intent of the meeting is to provide an overview of this bridge replacement project to Town Officials, local residents, businesses, emergency services and other interested parties. There will be a review of the existing site conditions, proposed work, maintenance of traffic and overall schedule followed by a question and answer period.
